Summer Internships

Dear Students,

We offer approximately 15 unpaid internships every summer for a 12-week period. Candidates may apply for an internship within the Office of the State Treasurer as well as the seven Divisions listed below, based on background and areas of interest; however, interns may work with other Divisions to gain additional experience.

The work and commitment of interns is essential to the Department. In all Divisions, interns assist in the facilitation and organization of projects within their respective programs and are offered many learning opportunities throughout their involvement with the Department of State Treasurer (DST).

The Department encompasses seven Divisions:

  • Financial Operations Division
  • Information Technology Division
  • Investment Management Division
  • Retirement Services Division
  • State and Local Government Finance Division
  • Unclaimed Property Division
  • The State Health Plan

DST seeks interns who:

  • Are interested in learning about State government
  • Are talented, ambitious, energetic, well-organized, dependable and responsible
  • Possess strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as computer skills
  • Work well as part of a team, as well as independently
  • Are able to multitask and pay attention to detail
  • Have a willingness to learn from the internship experience

DST expects its interns to:

  • Work a minimum of 30 hours a week
  • Adhere to agency office policies and procedures and follow office etiquette
  • Dress in appropriate business attire
  • Seek feedback from supervisors on assignments and look for ways to improve
  • Ask questions!
