The Supplemental Retirement Plans currently offer 12 investment options for the NC 401(k) and Deferred Compensation (NC 457) Plans:

Hypothetical Historical Investment Performance

The NC funds were established in 2009 and, as a result, actual historical investment performance is not available for periods prior to that year. However, the investment managers within each NC investment option have performance results available for investment strategies used by the Supplemental Retirement Plans prior to 2009. Using this data, we are able to provide hypothetical investment performance of the NC investment options prior to their inception in 2009.

 Great News for Plan Members!

As part of our normal process, administrative fees are deducted from member accounts to help cover the cost of administering the 401(k) and 457 Plans. After comparing the accumulated fees to the Plans’ expected administrative expenses, we have determined it would be prudent to return to each Plan’s members a portion of that Plan’s accumulated fees. Therefore, if you had an account balance in either the 401(k) Plan or the 457 Plan at any time from January 1, 2009 to November 30, 2012, we will return funds into your account based on:
  • The total amount of fees to be refunded for that Plan,
  • Divided by your individual average monthly account balance from January 2009 to November 2012.
Look for these refunded fees to be deposited in your NC 401(k) and/or 457 account in March 2013. Prudential will also be reaching out to members who closed their accounts to make sure their appropriate share is returned to them.

 Transfer Benefit

Members of the Teachers' & State Employees' Retirement System (TSERS) and Local Governmental Employees' Retirement System (LGERS) are able to transfer their NC 401(k) and/or NC 457 funds to the NC Retirement System to receive an additional monthly benefit.
