North Carolina Secretary of State - Securities Division investigates and provides information on investor fraud, Ponzi schemes, and other types of financial fraud. The Consumer Affairs Division of the N.C. Commissioner of Banks responds to consumer inquiries and complaints involving banks, trust companies, and mortgage companies and other entities it regulates and protects consumers through community outreach. The Better Business Bureau is a resource for objective, unbiased information on businesses. The network of national and local BBB operations monitors and takes action on thousands of business issues affecting consumers. The Federal Trade Commission is the nation's consumer protection agency. The FTC's Bureau of Consumer Protection works for the consumer to prevent fraud and unfair business practices in the marketplace and empowers consumers with free information to help them avoid fraud and deception. |
